Using the poomse's in a NHB sparring match. Ha!
So last night we were doing some free sparring pretty much anything goes (even joint locks! gasp!) besides eye gouging and nut shots. Anyhow, I was getting a little bored and tried to spice it up a little so I decided that all the attacks I would do would be from the Tae Geuks or the Palgwes.
You would NOT believe how well they work. I would do a combonation from the Poomse's and they seriously worked if I just committed them. It was great, I was laughing half the time as well as the other instructors. I just really couldn't believe that I was beating the other guy with my poomse forms. I used mostly Tae Geuk O, Sa, Sam, Chil, and Pal jang. And every once in a while, I threw in some Koryo. It was so funny. I even landed the jumping spinning kick combo from Palgwe 6. Ha! I have a new way to teach the importance of poomse's to our students now.

After some hindsight thought, I think that the hilariousness of me actually attempting this caused my sparring partner to just lose focus and thus allowing these to actually work.
I don't know, I think i'll try it again or if there's another california throw down, i'll try them there.

Can I say "if used properly is no defense" at this point?

Well, if you think about it, they SHOULD work! The whole reason these combo's were included in these forms is because they were found to be successful in real fights in the first place.

no no, i'm saying you WOULD take them down, but i don't see how i'm getting an ankle pick from a front stance.
waitaminute.... what technique are we talking about here? i think i'm confusing koryo with tae baek.
