I can agree with that, it was just bugging me that someone would say that he needs to work on his technique because he can't do a RNC.

I could do a RNC the first BJJ class I ever attended. I think people need to be giving props to Josh, because he pulled off a good victory over someone with a lot more in cage experience.

I don't believe with the skill showed in takedowns and clinching from Josh that he is unable to complete a RNC. I think Yrkoon probably put it best that his hurt arm is the reason he didn't go for the choke.
I'll make one when I can find one I like.

I think the reason Josh did not pull the RNC is that Melvin had his arms out and head ducked and was bucking like mad. As sweaty as they were we all know he would have slipped free before Josh would have had time to swim in.

Now here is my question no one's asked yet: Since Melvin was clearly using wrestleing to stop the RNC didn't he appear very open to a Full Nelson? It's not a choke but if you can't get a choke you might as well make their life suck until you can. I simply think that the Nelson didn't occur to Josh at the time (not like he had time for milk and cookies in there, let's be honest).

    my two cents

When have you ever seen a full nelson in MMA?

Exactly, I've never seen it, but I'd try it if in the same position AND sparring (nothing to lose in sparring). Some times a sound, but unexpected move can surprise. I'm only saying that maybe Josh could have used it to further the position, but I wasn't in the ring so I can couch-quarterback all day.

I'd try it too, but I'm wondering if there's a reason no one uses them. I know Tito Ortiz subbed someone with a (kinda) half-nelson, though.

    WTF?

Before the challenge, somebody told Luke (after the instructions were given) not to float.
Yeah, someone yelled "Luke, no levitating!" :laughing1

Just watched it last night, good stuff, a lot better than the second. I'm glad Melvin's gone, his constant babble irritated me. I seriously doubt his claims for 20-some knockouts too after watching that fight. He did make me laugh when he pulled that joke on Dana.

I'm anxious to see what Luke can do myself. That sucks about Jorge's knee too, I hope it holds up.

Yeah Luke seems off the wall, but I think there might be something there. I saw him doing conditioning drills useing a heavy bean bag. Yeah we all know the art that does this, but broken hands/arms are common injuries (josh and Melvin). I really am interested to see him fight, espcially using his guard on multiple opponents :eusa_ange

Jorge is my new no-nonsense, no bitching hero. Who needs an ACL or extra knee fluid?
