Sorry for any misunderstanding! I'm not calling all Yi Chuan BS, just this particular instructor. Thread title has been edited to reflect that (though I'm sorry, I don't think I can change the title that appears in the thread listing - mods, please feel free to do so). But we're not talking about fajing here. Before you defend his "explosive chi", watch the videos.

    http://www.yichuankungfu.com/video.htm (I recommend clips #6 and #4)

Those videos are fake, fake, fake. And they're exactly what I watched for half an hour in class.

Furthermore, if he's using his chi to affect people without touching them, then that's Grade A Bullshido worthy of James Randi's Paranormal Challenge. We're not talking about a sloppy armbar here, we're talking about defying the laws of physics.

    Heh, no worries :)
Btw, I don't disagree that the guy is bullshit. And that no touch **** makes me want to poke my eyes out w/ a sharp stick thinkin he's even associated in "name" w/ the stuff I do. :-p

Looks like we're on the same page. Sorry if I came off a little strong there :happy8:

I do still post here, but I don't do Yiquan. I study Yiliquan, a complete different art...

The thing I hate the most is the proliferation of piss poor CMA schools. So many "teachers," and so little to learn. You'd think 5000 years worth of history would have a little more to offer, y'know?

Great post, and I think your challenge is fair and equitable. Get in touch with the JREF guys and let them see if they can help you with making this challenge; I'm sure there are some JREF forumites in the area who'll be willing to tag along if you make it in public.

I was learning Yi quan with Taiji for 4 years. What I was being taught was stance work with application for my taiji. From what I remember of my sifu saying it was derived from xing yi and the inventor beat many adversaries. I remember reading that one of his students beat a student of Oyama, and the student of Oyama began to learn it and teach it as Taikiken.
