So anyway I bought a slightly used bow for five-hundred. It's a black Gold Medalist, so it's still pretty sexy, and it came with #38 limbs. It came with a bunch of other crap like a sight, a stabilizer and v-bar and the rest of that crap, a dozen arrows, a hard case, and some miscellaneous stuff.
Stabilizers get fucking heavy after an hour of shooting. -
It's pretty beat up, but it is a complete copy....

Make your own bow.
There is a whole magazine devoted to it, much more fun, and you will learn alot. Then you will know more when you go and buy one....

Outdoor 3-D shoots are almost as much fun as hunting. Shooting in the woods through and around limbs and leaves can add to the fun of target shooting.
I can't tell you about recurves I can say that new compounds bows can be held for minutes at 65 - 75 # draws and are very stable. In open areas I can hit 18" area at 50 yards and I can damage arrows from such tight grouping at 30 yards and under. I can't see how you or anyone with a couple of months practice couldn't achieve similar or better results with a new compound bow.
Either way you go don't go and buy the top of the line bow and more importantly don't buy an old used piece of junk. I would serioulsy recommend buying a lower end NEW bow, compound or recurve.
I do respect you for wanting a recurve and good luck.
