    Hey I'm new to this forum, i've been doing MA's for bout 6 years (Boxing,Shotokan,Judo) and i have never done anything other than body weight excersises for strength and endurance. I plan to start lifting weights to improve my performance could someone plz outline a routine that would improve my striking + grappling ability thanks.
    (I'm not sure if this matters but I'm 16 150pounds 6 feet tall)

    Hmm... for right now, you are only 16. I have heard this more than once, it is not good idea to lifting weight until your body stop growing (between 17 and 22). But I could be wrong.
    I never lift weight and I am 18, 130 lbs and 5'7. I can outstrenght many guys that are over 6 feet and 200 lbs. The secret is to just do many different body weight excrises, swim against river or ocean current, rock climbing, and other things. It will improve your gripping and striking because it is all natural and it will make you much stronger too.

    But that is probably not what you want, but it is just a suggest.

    At 16, you may or may not see improvement. I sure as hell didn't. You may have to WEIGHT (ha ha, just a little play on words there) it out a little bit.

    I lift, haven't seen much improvment. But of course I haven't been doing it for long and its very limit because all I have is a bar and some cheap wieghts.

    for right you you really should worry about diet more... make sure you eat well, and keep active.

    Later on you may want to get a trainer and start grazing on protein and pumping iron, but for now you really don't want to push yourself too much. Some light weightlifting wouldn't hurt, though.
