I can't really say since I haven't really read that much about them, but from what little I've seen, it just looked like a lot of writing in general, broad terms which left a lot to personal interpretation, kind of like astrology does.

Not gonna get involved in the entire religious debate here, but this common mis-conception deserves to be addressed.

The Roman Catholic Church (Vatican, Pope, etc...) did NOT support the Spanish Inquisition. The Pope tried to stop it but was not obeyed. I believe some of the leaders of the Church in Spain responsible for it were even officially excommunicated. It was the Spanish Inquisition that is responsible for the torture of heretics.

Sure, the big bang probably happened. I can't say I've researched it a lot though. Only what I know from high school and such.

Maybe this thread should be moved...

Physicists are able to measure radiation that is purported to be an aftereffect of a big bang... it's not necessarily "proof" of anything but current evidence doesn't contradict the idea of a big bang while there are quite a few problems with the strictly interpretted biblical account.
