No. Software developers have that problem. And the MPAA has issues with downloading movies. The MPAA and the FBI actually shut down a torrent site recently. (http://elitetorrents.com)

The RIAA usually only goes after people who share, and share a lot (in number) of songs.

Is it illegal to download? Yes. Is it illegal to upload? Yes.

Downloading is particiaping in the distribution of copyrighted materials.

The RIAA are a whiney bunch of suits. Everyone I know cries, and tosses and turns at night, unable to sleep, because their favorite artist couldn't afford their third house, second jumbo jet, or to get their teeth platinum plated.

could you direct me to an "official" source that states that the actual act of downloading is illegal? everything i have read (i have tried my best to keep up with this issue on both the EFF and slashdot) states that there hasn't been a decision made for downloading yet. but it's very possible i missed something.

Check out the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act.
