it means that people with weak forearms and wrists burn out quick. hand, wrist, and forearms strength is proportionately much more important than upper arm strength. fingertip pushusps are a good solution to problem of misproportion between upper body and the lower arm strength.

Muscle pump, or forearm pump is caused by a build up of lactic acid in the muscle. Opening and closing the hand becomes limited, grip strength vanishes, and your forearms feel like bands of taught steel. Wrist curls, reverse wrist curls, and forearm/reverse curls will all bring on this effect after a strong workout. It is great if you are a weight lifter, but if you are on the mat it is the last thing you want.

Alot of good forearm exercises will reduce the reoccurence of this while on the mat. Forearm exercises can be very uncomfortable to perform, but the benefit in grip and supination strength is worth it. Hauling in a 34 " long, 14lb striped has the same effect after a 20 minute struggle though.

    Sincerely,

Willing is not enough, we must do.
