Little man -- atadude -- I was in WTTU TKD (the international arm of the ATA) for five years. I got my black belt.
I was a fat, pathetic excuse for a fighter. That is NOT a high standard.
I knew more about martial arts in one class with my current teacher than I leanrned in all my time with them.
That wasn't martial arts you posted. That was a bunch of white folk sucking the dick of a dead Korean dipshit.
Be ashamed of yourself and go find a real school.

Oh, and by the way -- MAYBE YOUR DAMN INSTRUCTORS SHOULD BE ABLE TO REMEMBER THE DAMN FORMS, HEY? AT THEIR OWN DAMN GRADING?
the only people that think ata has high standards is the ata i think you are a troll but you may not be please spar me at the atlanta megathrowdown
I saw one poomse/form (if you could call it that), a bunch of standing around, something about lighting a candle and folding your dobak.... What did that have to do with becoming an instructor? (I fast foward thru it, so i probly missed some thing)
I was a first dan for four years and another year as a second dan before I got to have my (very lmited) class (ie; warm up, basics, poomse, once a week). And I did it thru doing things instructors need to learn to be able teach... like assistant teaching.
I mean if you had the choice, would you spar or work on folding your dobak?
I'm guessing your a very traditional school focused on more of the tradition side of TKD than the sport or fighting side? If what your going for is tradition, more power to you, you seem to be on the right track. But if I was to give some one the power to teach my students I would want to know that they knew every thing they needed (poomse, basics, the warm up routine, one steps, walking drills, competition rules, self defense, etc...), and they could demonstrate it different ways. I've scene it before, their are some really shitty instructors out their that should NOT be teaching. I dont think folding your dobak is a good test of an instructor.
Heck of a right punch, those ATA guys. I GUESS it's a punch...
That video was some funny ****. I could have sworn the guy who did the voiceover about bowing was the voice of several video game narrators.
Edit: I should add I nearly pissed myself when he says "CHILDREN OF THE ATA!"
I should also add that when I took TKD I was in no way impressed with the standards at the dojang. However, even my old TKD instructor would have flipped the **** out if he saw people performing like that and wearing black belts.

He reminded me of the narrator in Conan the Barbarian at some points.

I've seen ROK Marines and how they do their TKD (the r34l TKD?). Way badass compared to how I've mostly seen it done. No problems with doing TKD that way in my book.
