Someone grabbing u like that raking ur foot down there shin is a good place 2 start, but why would his head go bk? (unless u head but him but the risk of hurting ur self on his teeth is there.
Have learnt a couple of escapes from grabs like this two of which were throws & are tricky to pull of agianst someone bigger than you.

Also unless he's going 2 bite ur neck what is he going to do from here?

Pick you up and smash you into a wall or other nearby object. Supplex you. Hold you while his buddy is beating the **** out of you.

That said, it's indeed nice to know that raking along someone's chin will cause their head to snap back and will loosen their grip enough to bring up an elbow.

Both of those give u other options he's not holding ur legs so u can kick, kicking off the wall or whatever, or kicking his mate, hopefully this will also mean knocking him off balance.

out of intrest what would you do?

Anytime you witness a "self defence" technique, you must do one thing:

Ask yourself, what would YOU do in the place of the ATTACKER, NOT the defender.

In the place of the attacker its a case of " if i was going there i wouldn't start from here"
    but i see your point
Would probably try to trip them or take them down forward, to coudnter that u could try a throw; step back, raise ur arms 2 lock ther's & twist as they push you forward, or let them, & work from the ground up.
