Oh yeah. I've already moved on to many other things. My fiance thinks I am kind of a flake, but I think of myself as a effective multi-tasker.

Actually I am practicing some of the basic movements and hope to spar using them in a few weeks (with video). Whether or not that will actually happen...

Jose, I'll look into it if it's not taken care of.

I know Tien Shan Pai is a real style, I think the "is it Bullshido" question goes to the history Quickfeet put in the first post, forgive me for not re-reading it.

Mr. Mantis, the initial thread was only about 15 pages long. An ape would have the ... uh ... fortitude to uh...tip toe through the tulips. Okay point taken.

Jose, the debate came down to two main issues:

    1. Is Tien Shan Pai an original style or was it created 40+ years ago in Taiwan as an ecclectic mixture of a few different styles (and then repackaged and sold as a 400+ year old style)?

    2. Is the story that Mr. Huang gives about being a 64th grandmaster of the style accurate or more salesmanship?

As for your demo, I see similarities to what I did in the past, but also quite a few differences. I'll get into those later when I have more time. Props for posting the clip though.

But if what you do is different, and what master Willy Lin is different, then it is possible that one of us has the original style (lineage wars start now), or maybe the style I learned isn't Tien Shan Pai. As I mentioned before, there were numerous translation issues between my teacher and his teacher. Who knows? But the two issues that we might actually be able to resolve are those I mentioned above.

To me it looks like a mix of Southern Shaolin, mantis, and xing yi. Maybe a little choy li fut? Very interesting stuff.

Really? I think it's characteristics are more Northern with all the kicks and the one legged stuff. I can see the mantis you see, but I also see a lot of bird movement, especially in the first form.

Anyway, they're some nice forms, IMO.

I don’t know Mr. Huang, but I have worked out with Willy Lin who was the one that introduces TSP to the US. As far as the 64 gen and Mr. Huang I don’t know and I do not care I have seen some of his students in competitions and I don’t think that they are that good. Looking at them do there forms is just bad. Here is a Testimonial of Willy Lin and what he said at a school I use to go to until I had some problems with the owner of the school.

Grandmaster Willy Lin is very proud of the Northern Shaolin Kung Fu and Tai Chi Academy because our school teaches the Tien Shan Pai forms and weapons just the way they were taught to him by his teacher, Grandmaster Wang Jyue Jen.

And here is something that Master Dennis Brown said.

Master Dennis Brown has said many times that our Tien Shan Pai school has kept the traditional forms and weapon sets intact, just the way they had been taught to him.

Now I still work out with my sifu but I am no longer at that school.

Now here is a web site that mentions TSP http://www.shaolininstitute.com/evol...in_kung_fu.htm
