Yawara Ju-Jitsu

Isn't calling it Yawara Ju-jitsu kind of redundant? Kind of like calling it Ju Ju-Jitsu.
How can it be a military style if no military anywhere has ever used it?
How is it Jujitsu if it's based on Karate?

What has me really confused, though, is that the rest of the site doesn't look too bad. Who the hell are these guys? They're in Ringwood Victoria Australia, do we have anyone anywhere near there?

Horrible name for sure. I know jack about Japanese other than my limited Judo vocabulary. But I do know Yawara and JJ are one in the same.

A yawara is also a type of stick weapon, about as big as a roll of quarters and used to brace the hand when punching and for applying pressure to small joints during grappling.

I've always heard that referred to as a "yawara stick," designating it as a tool to aide yawara technique, not that it IS a yawara?

yawara is a type of samurai empty hand that actually predates the time jujutsu was generally in vogue, ie pre tokugawa.

What it has to do with karate i don't know.

but then, maybe this is something someone put together, based on Goju, which sounds like yawara and jujutsu, but not exactly, and is pretty good (I haven't looked at the site myself).

Lame name, but good MA?

speaking from Kobudo, where the Yuwara Bo (about 6" long, about 3/4" thick, made of wood for pocking, locking, thrusting and generally what you'd expect from a small stick) is a recognised and taught weapon i can see its uses - but an entire sub-secton of Ju-Jitsu devoted to it... hmmm, havnt checkout out the site or anything else other than read your posts... but still odd :/

in bujustu, there are sub-systems of almost every weapon.
Bojutsu
Tantojutsu
Toiletbrushjutsu

Whatever, though these sub-systems usually consist of half a dozen kata and nothing more.
