It's not the style, it is the fighter that kicks ass. Sure, some styles are more directly applicable than others, but style alone doesn't win fights.

I'd like to point out that the BJJ inner and outer parties have been doing our part to purge these undesirables to the SherGulag.

However, we must all be careful not to encourage the queers who wear FIRST NATIONAL BANK OF DAD shirts and like to point out that though the style is overrun with McDojos now, the founders of Hawaiian Kempo enjoyed skinning anacondas with their bare hands or whatever. I'm not making these kindof people up. Just do a search on Chas and Steve Gartin on rec.martial-arts.

All of the above is examplified by this little gem of compressed turds.

Omega, I think you're a bad influence on the beaver.

And I don't think BJJ guys have cornered the market on cockiness, but it seems to me that whenever a certain art gets hot, it can attract a whole bunch of idiots that help to water down and discredit the art.

Nice to name it Yrkoon9. This IS familiar, having delt with it recently with the wc guy and others (seems to go along with being a male ages 16 - 20).

I think that one of the contributing factors is that unlike other types of geeks, martial arts geeks actually gain some real world skill (not that being able to instantly calculate complex damage ratios off of the roll of a 12-sided di isn't impressive). It just so happens that this real world skill falls into place along the list of would-be alpha male behaviours. The result? A lot of new guys jockeying for position in the room while the silverbacks just have to sit back and roll their eyes.
