    Hell yeah! Hell no!

A New Trait for the McDojo?

Just a suggestion. I don't have a lot of experience in Martial Arts, so it was a rude awakening when I started looking for a Dojo I was shocked to see that it seems to be a popular practice to claim classes on numerous arts(e.g. Jujitsu, Karate, Kickboxing, Judo, etc.), WITHOUT EVEN ACTUALLY HAVING CLASSES IN THOSE ARTS!!! :angry1: For example, their flyer claims they teach Jujitsu, and then you find out that the really just teach a little bit of grappling in their Karate program. In my case I went to a Dojo that claimed to teach Judo among other martial arts, and found out that they have no Judo class whatsoever. Now in this particular case, the program they did teach WAS legit and the instructors do have serious credentials, so that particular dojo is by no means what you would call a McDojo. Yet the fact remains that I was attracted there by the flyer's claim of JU-DO. Now obviously I am sure that a lot of REAL McDojos probably engage in this practice for obvious reasons. I joked to a friend of mine about starting a "dojo" that only teaches boxing, yet on the window and the flyers it would say:

    Western Boxing
    Thai Boxing
    Burmese Boxing
Cambodian Boxing- The REAL Fighting system of the Khmer Rouge!
    Russian Cosmonaut Spetznaz Systema
Ninjitsu - Cut a Bunch of people and then watch them fall apart in unison
    Hindu Scimitar fighting
    Egg Foo Yung
    Kim Chong Il
    Ho Chi Minh
Jihadjitsu - REAL fighting system of Al Qaeda suicide bombers!!!
    Lightsabre fighting
    AND MUCH, MUCH MORE...

And of course the dumb parents would sign their kids up and they would all end up in my "boxing class", which actually consists of them standing around looking confused while I manuever around the dojo shooting them with Nerf guns.

    Year Zero.

I would confront your instructor. Tell him you don't want to be mucking around with kids - you want serious training and lots of sparring. If your instrcutor cannot giveyou that I would look for another martial arts dojo.

I dunno about you but I only have a limited amount of time for training during the week and I don't like wasting it with half-assed classes.

Yo!Excuse me.Is this school your ONLY option to join in your area?

Can you not look around a little bit more.Drive around slowly the next time your in a strip mall. You may be surprised to find schools.I just discoverd a Shotokan Dojo in a basement. The reason why i never noticed them before was because they share the same fromt entrance as a Caribean social group.

So if you aren't satisfied ,why bother complaining at all.

I've never really seen that happen. Well, I've never really looked around much for MA.

I guess when I signed up for Temple Kung Fu, they lied to me about teaching Kung Fu.
