It's a guy that helps train people at our gym. I am not paying him. I know that he used to manage some people and that he is friends with promoters. I have no clue about this type of stuff.

Fight when you're ready. Some managers, however, I would think would be eager to get their boy in a fight because they are confident in them. Sometimes we dont believe enough in ourselves, which I am not saying is or isnt the case.

He's calling promoters but never when I'm around. I do not know what he's telling him. He was telling me last night to go ahead and fight, there was no way I could lose. I was thinking yea..it's very possible I could lose. I do believe in myself but I am also realistic about my own abilities. I always talk to my sparring partners, coaches, etc. asking how could I improve, how did they feel during the session, etc.

Yeah, I was gonna ask you, what does your coach/instructor say?

My Sifu helps manage a pro boxer, so I'm fortunate that if I ever reach that point, I'm in good hands.

My coach hasn't said anything about it to me yet. He doesn't know what we're talking about..the guy that's wanting me to fight..I really like him and we hang out, go out for drinks and stuff. I just don't want to feel pressured and I didn't know how this kinda thing works.

Managers are supposed to get you the fights, advise you when to fight. If he's a good manager there's no reason for him to throw you into something when you could lose. I call promoters all the time and recieve calls whenever my fighters aren't around. I do the research, I set him up with the training time and schedule. Ultimately it's up to you to take a fight so quit your whining and go back to training.
