Just got back from my first tourney

Well, there was a small BJJ tourney over in Seattle, so I decided to go. Our school only had a 1 week notice, so it was really a last moment thing. Add to that the fact that I haven't even trained in a gi in over 2 weeks. :P

Anyway, it was fun. My first ever MA tourney, and I didn't know what to expect. There was room for 2 matches at a time, and I was "lucky" enough to fight in the first match. I lost. :( Guy just kind of toppled me over, dominates me point-wise, tries to get a few chokes, but I don't tap. I did better than I thought I would. Video will be up later in the week, maybe around Wednesday.

glad you had fun, and its too bad you lost. next time train for your tournaments :P

Yeah, I'm still a white belt.

It's not my fault. My instructor only got a week's notice himself. He was told on Friday, I found out on Tuesday. Nothing I could really do. =/

I wasn't expecting to get 1st place or anything. I just wanted to get some experience and see how my training is doing for me. Next time I'll know what to expect more less. It would have sucked if my first tournament was a big one. EXTREME adrenaline dump there.

Yeah, only single elimination. It was a pretty small tournament. Only white and blue belts competed, maybe 40 people total. There were only 3 girls, 2 blue, 1 white.

Kinda makes me regret paying $20, but oh well... Hopefully next time I'll get my money's worth. ;)
