I've been seeing this floating around the internet on why the cops should shoot people with knives instead of attempting to disarming them.

If an officer tells you to drop your weapon, just drop it. If you're a retard, stupid, on crack, mental or just "scared" ... too bad. No one deserves what this cop got for just doing his job.

This is vivid proof of how deadly people who are "only armed with a knife" can be. Some of the public think that officers should try to disarm someone armed with a knife but anyone who has had training in knife fighting will tell you even if you win, you are going to get cut.
Keep this in the back of your mind when confronting someone armed with an edged weapon.

Cheesy but good. It includes the experiment with actual cops trying to draw and fire within 3, 10, 15, and 21 feet.

I like how in the first sketch the cop draws his baton instead of his firearm. Like that would ever happen in reality.

If the guy has a knife and is within Taser range, you are fucked.

Knife = lethal threat = shoot until no longer a threat

Srsly? Cause I saw dude get tazered from like 12 feet away.... Stick prongs on face... ouch. It's just as fast as the gun if it's the weapon you already have out... Though I suppose if you miss with the taser you are fucked....

12 feet is lethal range for a knife ... from 21 feet the guy can be on you in 3 seconds flat (something which had been clearly demonstrated time and again). And yes, if you miss with the Taser you are fucked.

Oh, and I still have a copy of Surviving Edged Weapons lying around somewhere and it's still a very good training video.
