I like the shirasaya katana. Someone should inform him that's just for display, and he's about to fling the blade out of the handle and impale some random passer-by.

Crap, got to it before I did.

For those who don't know, a shirasaya is a wooden holder specifically for the blade of the katana. It is not intended to be used in that state at all, even though the tang is pegged.
DIDN'T YOU KNOW?! The Chinese know everything! And they knew it 4,000 years before YOU did!

Aside from the blade looking kinda ugly, the tsuki seems straight. But it's not like Ashida to have something good anyway.

The sword he has is a cheap replica. I bought one in Tennesee exactly like it for about $19. You can have one too from here (click to enlarge the picture to look at the handle/saya and compare to Kim/Hunters/whoever's sword):

Yeah, a kid brought one into the dojo the other day to ask if it was a good cutting sword. I'm surprised he came back after the way we laughed. The best part about it was the unsanded, unfinished wood. I told the kid he'd get splinters doing his draws. thankfully, after a few minutes of trying to BS us, he came around.
