That way a JKD man or woman should train to outkick a Taekwondo person, outpunch a boxer, out-knee/elbow a MT person, and out-grapple a BJJ fighter. That's the theory...I'm not saying it's being applied anywhere much nowadays

That is not at all the point of JKD training. To try to out-kick a TKD'er etc., is ridiculous. The idea of JKD is to be able to take the other fighter OUT of their element. I am not going to try to out-box a boxer, I just need to understand their paradigm enough to be able to defend long enough to switch styles on them.
