As stated before, JKD is a philosophy or concept, not a codified style. I believe that the MMA model basically is JKD.

I'd say so. Maybe some MMA guys are too conservative, though. The standard "MT + BJJ" works well, but you see people pulling some crazy **** and making it work.

MMA is also a "sport" which eliminate certain *ahem* self defense tactics.

JKD was ment to be a simple philosiphy but over the years people started teaching it as the best martial art instead of a martial philosiphy. i agree with jkd chick, one can practice jkd anywere at any time because it is a philosiphy.

But there is a group out there who would like nothing better than to turn it in to a standardized MA system. That group seems to be the ones in with Linda Lee. I imagine it has something to do with money like in most cases.

Well, I've never seen a JKD group/school/fighter that didn't have most of the characteristics I listed above. If someone can tell me that they have, well, I guess I'm wrong. Otherwise, I think it meets the criterion for a style. I understand that people practicing this style have a practical philosophy with regard to retaining only what is useful but still, I'm sure there are plenty of Mcdojo's that actually think they are doing the same i.e. teaching gracie BJJ that the instructor learned off of videos in a TKD school (I've seen it lol).

But then it would be weapons training instead of empty handed.

As a result, I think this Jeet Kun Do Federation is comprised of martially inept teletubies, until I see decent fight cards.

Yes, keep it in my signature because it's a dead duck to me.
