I bet you he's founded his own style of "Brazilian" Jiu-Jitsu and awarded that green belt to his friend.

    Yrkoon9,

What kind of choke did Pedro catch you with? He hailed from Rio and had a couple of satellite schools in Texas, one in Houston and one in San Antonio. Although the San Antonio school is now defunct, the Houston school--with BB Eric Williams--is still going strong. (Eric was also mentioned on the Jade Mountain web site.) I heard a story from one of Pedro's students that Pedro once subbed a BB judoka on his feet with one of his patented "Pedro chokes."

Here's the bjj.org entry on Medeiros with a "Paul Thomas" listed as one of his blues:

    http://bjj.org/a/people/medeiros-rodrigo.html

Thomas' blue was awarded in 2002, so if he's been training, he should be purple or close to it by now. If this is the same Paul Thomas on the Jade Mountain site, why doesn't he list his legit belt rank?

I don't know if you're familiar with kiddie ranks in BJJ or not, but the belt colors go yellow, orange, green for kids under 16. That's what I found humorous about sifu's BJJ green belt.

    Catch me with?

Nothing. He was demonstrating a technique. I didn't feel much pressure as he was talking us through it. Next thing I know he is waking me up. Turns out I was sleeping for a couple of seconds. Felt good though. I highly endorse the Pedro collar choke! It's a ninja attack.

Was it one of those rolling lapel chokes? I momentarily blacked out from one of those during a practice. Doesn't take much...

Sifu McClendon is a great instructor I use to go Jade Mountain, people need to quit judging **** unless they can smell it. Wrestling shoes are better than some half assed cotton sole kung fu or training shoe of some sort.

Does he indeed have a green belt in BJJ?
