Hey everybody do you all have any suggestions of what I can do for my injured knees. They pop alot, hurt all the time, and have a grinding feel in them. I'm 14 and m parents say is just growing pains because alot of other guys have had them. What do you all think?

Your 14 & your knees hurt already??? Damn, have you been to a Dr? A young friend of mine had to have surgery on both knees by the time she was 15. You should NOT feel pain anywhere "all the time" not saying you'll need surgery...
You really need to see someone, knees are nothing to play around with, mine are just starting to hurt, I'm gettin up there in age though!!
Let me know how it goes....

My parens say I don't need to go to a Dr because they think its just growing pains. I've been telling that I need to see a Dr but they won't listen.

My daughter is sitting here telling me, to tell you..."my knees hurt too!" She's also 14..

Growing pains are normally in the muscles, not joints...your knees shouldn't hurt all the time, nothing should...
Tell your parents, that I said "you need to go to the Dr!" lol

Do you need permission from your parents to see the Dr. ???

Here in the UK, you can see the Dr in confidence about anything, I'm sure you could too.

Bruce Lee,Jet Li,Segal and Van Damme are all actors so shutup about them.

Like everyone else is saying, go to a doctor.
Your knees should not hurt even when you have growing pains. It is very likely you are doing at least one of your kicks with improper form or you land too hard on you jumps.
If you have a constant pain because of martial arts you are doing something wrong. Ask your instructor to check your form. Either way go check out a doctor, better safe than sorry.

Fog, we're in the States "LOVE", lol, you can't really just walk into a Dr. office at 14 & see a Dr. unless it's at one of the little "pregancy prevention clinics"
He needs an adult & probably 40-100 bucks..
God, sometimes the States suck..& hopefully has insurance. I was looking at my last Dr bill, if I hadn't had insurance I would have paid nearly 200 dollars, WITH insurance I pay a 20 d copay.

samantha711: Lots of girls in their early/mid teens have knee problems... I know several girls in my Highschool that mess up their knees on the basketball team, or just by stumbling and landing with their knee the wrong way. I've had to be careful about my own because on my mom's side of the family the men have knee problems, so I'm quite relieved that I have my fathers knees (and his thighs aren't bad either).

So all I can really say is get all your minerals (Calcium is just one out of over a dozen you need, but the only one that a lot can identify) stretching can be helpful, strength training (not too much at an early age though) helps with your joints, making stronger bones and stronger muscles to help keep the joint aligned correctly.

TKD Boxer: Whats making your knees hurt, exactly? Is it the kicks in TKD? You're not supposed to completely straighten your knee when you kick... doing the same can hurt your elbows if you have bad punching techinque. If they hurt too bad you might want to go easy for a while. Knees aren't something you want to mess up. Oh, and tell your parents that seeing a doctor is never a bad idea, you don't want your knees messed up for the rest of your life do you?

<John> I'd have to smack you sometime...

I can't kick any more and I know that straightening the knee will hurt the knee tat and landing to hard on flying kicks is how I think I hurt my knees. My mom says that it is normal at my age and I might be seeing a doctor soon.
