    If you aren't doing a row or chin movement you are asking for muscular imbalances that will cause you severe shoulder problems down the road. Look at how many powerlifters have shoulder problems.

    I don't know that I'd be that worried about muscular imbalances, given the amount of weight in question. If he were consistently benching 400, then yes.

    Also, aren't shoulder problems in powerlifters as likely to be caused by the excessive stress put on joints by the weights being used? Some of those guys are definitely pushing the limits of what the body was designed to do.

    Squat
    Bench
    Deadlift.

    If anyone is gonna get shoulder imbalances and/or problems, its olympic lifters.
