    Hey,
THANKS for posting that link. For those of us wishing to run a school as our primary source of income sites like that are invaluable for ideas.

For example, the after school program with a bus service directly to the schools is a fantastic plan. Something like that could literaly fund my life and the money I make off of it would allow me to have small dedicated number of students that are serious enough to actually teach traditionally with out having to Mc Dojoify my curriculem. I never would have thought of that otherwise.

Why do you oppose main stream schools so much?? Only a SMALL percentage of people want anything more than basic fitness and easy self defense anyway. Why NOT give them what they want?

Those that want to be hard core fighters can just go find an MMA or a traditional Kung Fu teacher.

I hear there are earthquakes going on right now all throughout Asia and parts of Europe.

Something to do with martial arts masters rolling over in their graves...

There is no such thing as EASY SELF DEFENSE. You are selling them the Brooklyn Bridge. Take "self-defense" out of your ads and say "get minimal exercise while mocking warfare!" then you will be honest and we will say there you go, some non-false advertisement. Neat!

A little knowledge is dangerous. You are putting people into more danger than they would be otherwise. You are giving them a FALSE sense of confidense. You might as well be selling them stun guns that only tickle the mugger and say it knocks them out.

I am sure you could argue that Taebo is better than nothing. I don't agree. Taebo is about as useful as tennis in a fight.

my kung fu eeeeeees better than yours!

My instructor subscribes to that magazine, he says it's great, I don't see what's wrong with it, many good schools go belly up for lack of financial knowledge.

I think business and teaching should go hand in hand. However I think it'd be better to have someone other than the teacher handle the financial dealings so they may not be swayed by the lure of easy money.

    I'm ambivalent about this stuff.

It'd be nice to have a shiny new facility, and for good instructors to get paid.

But man. I don't wanna train in a "boutique," come on. Unless it's like savate or something.
