Fedor Emelianenko
Unbeatable? It sure seems like it. On paper, fighters with technical stand-up and unnaturally slick submissions like Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira would be able to defeat the more wild and less technical Fedor. However, 2 fights have shown just the opposite. Fedor's wild stand-up collapsed Nogueira's technical jab-cross stand-up technique, and Fedor's take-down/ground and pound bested Nogueira's slick submissions. While Nogueria went the distance in both fights, Fedor clearly bested him in both, avoiding his submissions and punishing him with take-downs at will, and haymakers from Nogueira's guard. He Now, I know that no man is invincible as long as he is human, but Fedor is too effective it seems. He is a good striker, good at take downs, brutal with his ground and pound, and still has slick submissions.
Can he be beat? By whom? When?
Personally, I think someone with good sub defense, takedowns, and ground and pound (similar to Fedor), who can manage to maintain top position will be able to manage a TKO or decision. The problem is, no one does this better than Fedor ;p. A sprawl and brawl like CroCrop might do well, or a guy as big and aggressive as Angre Arlovski. I think if Nogueira worked more on his takedowns, he might be able to do it.
Your thoughts?

CroCop is going to beat him down mercilessly when they meet if you listen to him talk. He's starting to get annoyed and is making open accusations of Fedor using the hand injury to duck him.
It would be interesting to see CroCop's takedown defence in the clinch instead of against shoots, but in the striking range I think he will punish Fedor if he fights with his hands down like he did with Nog.

im a big crocop fan, and i think he would have a chance against emelianenko. i think crocop has a slight edge in striking, but on the ground emelianenko would take it. if crocop could stay on his feet, he could win.l

I wanna give it to my man crocop, but I say it's up in the air. Only one thing is for sure, it'll be an exciting fight if it ever happens.

Personally, I'm not a big Fedor fan. I'm a really big Nog and Crocop fan. However, I think Crocop stands no chance. Fedor could hang with Mirko standing, and once Fedor gets into the clinch or gets a shoot while Mirko is throwing a kick or something and the fight goes to the ground, it's over unless Mirko can hold on to Fedor so the ref stands them up, which may potentially earn him yellow cards. Fedor is way more well balanced, and I think he would destroy Crocop. However, If Mirko can manage to keep the fight standing (his takedown defense is outstanding), he will easily win by KO or judge decision. Pride Judges love it when fighters successfully sprawl, for some reason. If Mirko can land one good headkick -- lights out Fedor, which would make 2 successive KOed Emelianenkos.
However, I think Nog or Arlovski might stand a chance. Nog's wrestling and boxing skills have increased dramatically (he's been in Cuba just to train boxing), and he has 3 inches and a few pounds on Fedor. He has said himself that his takedowns are drastically improving. These were the two areas Fedor beat him at: striking and takedowns. Fedor couldn't GnP Nog for a TKO, nor could Nog submit Fedor. Fedor won the 2 decisions based off of damage and top position. If Nog can manage to take down Fedor or sweep him for a top position, I think Nog could potentially TKO or submit Fedor, but probably decision himself the win. Arlovski has 4 inches, 10 pounds, and equal strength to Fedor, and I think Arlovski would overpower him, if he trained hard enough. Fedor is a lazy bastard, lol. Shows his skill though.
WAR NOG!!!1 ;)

Like half of the fighters in PRIDE already don't juice, since PRIDE doesn't run performance enhancing drug tests. Arlovski doesn't Juice half as much as guys like Kerr.

are you insinuating that professional athletes would possibly do steroids?!? we better take this to the supreme court!
as far as arlovski, he is hairy because he is russian. russians are just in general hairy mofos. i wouldn't be surprised if all of the guys mentioned thus far in this thread were on steroids. high school football players and wrestlers use steroids, so of course professional fighters do.

Can someone please point out where anyone in this thread has raised a complaint regarding steroid use?

I figured when you used Juice, you were referring to the such, unless i'm terribly misinformed. If so, I apologize, and let's get back to Fedor ;p.
