I hope those weren't directed at me because they have nothing to do with what I was talking about.

That's nice... I was just attempting to re-hijack my thread.

You're right about the punching with your legs thing by the way. Consider the issue closed.

    Have you tried Yoga?

I've done a class or two. It's not really my thing as far as a class goes (I don't like group effort fitness), but I do like some of the stretches and stuff that they teach.

PS I wasn't trying to hijack the thread, I was just derailing some misinformation some people were dishing out. I know I'm right about the punching thing, I've had professionals tell me that. People keep bringing it up, so I keep shooting it down. There are a lot more posers on this site than I would have expected.

Is anyone suggesting that Yoga is a superior form of ST compared to weight training?

Yoga feels good, and the classes are packed with hot babes in skimpy clothes with their asses in the air.

This is why I'm signing up...strength training, bah!

    I'm surprised greese1 doesn't teach yoga.

You are right about that. I keep agreeing with you, as well as others who know what they are talking about concerning punching power generation. Not everybody uses proper body mechanics though, and I wouldn't call them "posers", just folks who "don't know what the **** they are talking about". I do think your righteous indignation kind of turns people off.

What I wanna know is, did you ever see that movie "Return of the Flying Guillotine"? Where that yogi master has that telescoping arm technique where he slaps the **** out of his opponent?

Like people with one year of kickboxing trying to tell others how to punch? :5propelle

The arms are used in punching, as is the whole body. Strengthen the muscles, you strengthen your strikes. End of discussion.

I don't do yoga personally, never tried it, never felt the need to. Personally though, I feel it can't hurt and might actually help you an awful lot. You ever get those guys with the gumby limbs that can bend in all sorts of crazy ways and that are harder to tap out? At worst it'll get you more flexible, at best it'll help your grappling game and you might get some digits out of it from one of the chicks that goes to the class. I'd say go for it :icon_thum
