Once I got hit HARD with the Brainpad Lo-Pro I never considered using anything in the ring. It felt immediately different to me. Maybe it was all placebo effect but I definately felt safer.Originally posted by CrimsonTiger
God, I hope that's not what I'M feeling right now.
WS,
Interesting you should say that about the uppers...you wouldn't wear it in the ring, eh? I've been sparring regularly with my upper, opponents from 150 (tiny bastards!) to a 230lbs monster who likes to hook the head a lot. My jaw has never really been an issue. Not yet anyway. I'll have to ask what we use for our actual fights... -

I do agree with you.Originally posted by CrimsonTiger
But if you don't normally train with it, in the heat of a situation, you won't be able to handle it well.
Though, still the size of the thing in my mouth does matter.
I'm not used to having large objects in my mouth.
The Shock Docter v3.0 gave me no troubles at all though, and I boiled them at like 1am and fought/McThrewdown later on that day.Surfing Facebook at work? Spread the good word by adding us on Facebook today! https://www.facebook.com/Bullshido -

I just wanted to say that this thread was very helpful. I was going to post this earlier, but I'm too lazy, and now that someone else asked a question about mouthguards (without using the search function), It reminded me to post here.
Anyway, I went from the $1 boil and bite, to the ShockDr Power Ultra (single). It's well worth the money (I've taken a few solid shots to the face the day after buying it. It's a single, but there's an chunk at the molars that helps keep my jaw aligned. There's no sliding at all, even with light to moderate bite pressure.
The beauty is that I had to boil this thing three times to fit it right, and each time it was like fitting it for the first time (I was too lazy to use a mirror to get it centered properly...until the third time).
So Thanks again, guys. This thread was very helpful.Jaguar's MMA record

The Gel Max has an awesome fit if you do it properly. I think I was using the Pro for awhile in striking sessions but dumped it in favour of the Ultimate. The Ultimate is a double but breathing with it is better than most singles I've worn. I heartily recommend all three.
