    Why is this even up for debate? Didn't we etsablish like ten years ago that a 100% pure striker--ESPECIALLY a striker who doesn't know kicking, for Christ's sake--will get his ass handed to him by a mixed martial artist almost every single time?

    A Muay Thai fighter with the same level of skill and conditioning as Mike Tyson would CREAM him, if he could use all of his techniques. If it was just boxing, depending on how well the thai fighter trained his boxing, it could go either way...

    In the past, Boxer vs Muay Thai fights almost always went towards the thai...

    Belfort was a BJJ stylist along with boxing ..sure he beat Tank Abbot with hand speed but he also got a rear mount .. he beat that Treger.. Tre.. the guy with one side of his chest all screwed up .. with boxing skills but he also passed his guard and got the side mount.

    Belfort was a well-rounded fighter back then.

    You'll never see a top ranked boxer step into the MMA rings until the money is there. Fighting for boxers like Tyson and Lewis is about earning more money in one night than most any of us will see in our entire lives. Why fight for a few grand when you can literally fight for millions?

    I think boxers of that high a caliber would do better than most are giving them credit for. They train hard, and train to beat particular opponents for big fights, so they would work against grapplers and kickers in preperation, study out the fighting style of who they would face, with trainers and coaches looking for holes to capitalize on. Clinching skills, and using them to damamge the other fighter, are already there for boxers. It may not be legal, but head butting, and short kidney punches take place in the ring if the ref isn't really on the fighters, open things up and it won't hurt those skills. That, and Tyson is an animal with a thin coating of humanity spread on for looks, he's a proven carnivor with a dislike for primates with the capability of speach, that has to help.

    "Belfort won his first several matches just with boxing" - yes, boxing is very effective, but no, Vitor used wrestling skills too..
    "Training = pain." - I said that.

    If whole theory about breaking bones in hands while punching too much is true. I would say that boxers won't last very long in UFC unless they can knock opponent out fast enough.

    I think Tyson has proved that he can knockout opponents quickly. By the way I think boxers can take alot more punishment than mixed martial artists can simply because boxers punch and get punched in the head and body and do not grapple. So Tyson would probably be one of the toughest if not the toughest person in the UFC.

    Of course a muy thai fighter would cream a boxer if he could use all his techniques but if they just boxed a boxer would beat the hell out of a muy thai fighter guaranteed. Plus I dont think a good boxer like Mike Tyson would give anyone room to do kicks becuase boxers fight to get in close range and stay there unleashing hell, especially if a heavy hitter like Mike Tyson is throwing the punches. Damn that guy hits hard. If all boxers threw left hooks like him, boxing matches would only last 3 rounds tops.

    Sorry to bust your bubble. It seems like only person who really think Mike Tyson or boxer could win is mostly black (by observing their name) or a boxer themself.

    If Muay Thai could take heavy kicks to the head then that mean they could withstand punch of boxer. Kick are alway much stronger and harder than a punch. Also a Muay Thai know how to use their range and most boxer don't have any idea how to fight against clinch or getting knee in face and chest. Also consider the elbow that will just cut their face up and hit them as hard as a bull horn. Also consider the kick, Muay Thai kick are extremely fast and if boxer try to block it then it is likely they will break their arm and still get kick in the head. Also if Mike try go close to Muay Thai then tehy will just push kick or kick Tyson right in leg and Tyson will just have to move away. Sorry but Muay Thai have many more ranges, choose of attacks, and unblockable kick, and other things.

    But Muay Thai probably won't do too well in UFC either unless they get some ground fighting training.

    Just throw rock at it and it will go away.
