IMO, punch wise, a proper 1-2 combo is the best weapon in your arsenal.
1) It's fast
2) It doesn't really expose anything. Other than maybe your body.
3) It's quick enough so you can recover quickly to launch something else.
4) A straight-line punch will beat a hook 'to the punch' (hahaha, I am so unbelievably amused) any time.
5) Longest range, can allow you to hit with impunity (unless the other guy has long arms, etc).
6) Straights in the face hurt, and straights in the solar plexus can steal your chi.
That being said, I personally like jab-straight to the face, followed by a hook to the body (either side) followed by a jab or straight to the face to bring the hands back up to finish off the combo.

At what point do you pull his shirt over his head Hockey-style? Seems like a very "early UFC" way of busting your hand...but I'd definitely fear that combo.

I've always been fond of hook to the body, uppercut to the body, hook to the head myself. Jab-hook-straight is great, hooking off your jab always catches those without a lot of boxing experience off guard. 1-2-3-2 is another good one, great for driving someone back into the ropes or against the wall. 1-1-2 is good, jab to double uppercuts and a right hook is sweet for infighting.....there's tons of fun ones
