    Hell yeah! Hell no!

PRIDE Grand Prix: If YOU were the matchmaker

Who would you pair in the first round?

We all know PRIDE is famous for pulling **** like adding fighters and throwing HORRIBLE competitors in the ring simply because they're Japanese so if you could be the one to decide who was fighting who would you pair up?

So far the announced participants are:

    Wanderlei Silva
    Antonio Rogerio Nogueira
    Quinton "Rampage" Jackson
    Igor Vovchanchyn
    Kazushi Sakuraba
    Dan Henderson
    Mauricio “Shogun” Rua
    Yuki Kondo
    Hidehiko Yoshida
    Kazuhiro Nakamura
    Kevin Randleman
    Vitor Belfort
    Alistair Overeem

Now, to be fair, PRIDE is one of the few organizations that realizes in order to have a truly great show you need to throw some little fish in with the big boys.

Theres only 13 here so far so I'd expect 3 of PRIDE's more 'interesting' fighters to be added any day.

So far only Wanderlei vs. Yoshitbird has been announced. I'm fine with that since Yoshitstain doesn't deserve to even fight in the tourney and Wanderlei has EARNED an easy win in the first round after all the asses he's kicked so far.

If I had to guess, I'd say Pride is going to give the toughest first round fight to Hendo since Pride seems to have a problem with any non-asian that might actually have a chance at beating Wanderlei.

WTF Suckuraba is doing here is ANYONE's guess. Don't you think its time he called it a day? If he gets Wanderlei again I feel bad for him. I don't know how much more his skull can take before he has to have a plate welded up there.

And Randleman is another enigma. Do they STILL owe him for throwing that match to Suckuraba?! This poor guy can't seem to understand that he can take alllll the steroids he wants and he's STILL not going to win because steroids do not instill any martial skill. I wonder what Roidleman is going to weigh in at? I hope they give him Nakamura so I get to see a huge steroided black man abuse another Japanese fighter getting an easy payday.

This is actually a tough tourney to call. Without the real matchups its impossible to call a winner but barring any strange occurences and any worked fights I'd say its between Belfort, Wanderlei, Hendo and Rampage.

    I'd like to see

Wanderlei Silva - Antonio Rogerio Nogueira
    and Silva vs Belfort 2
Hopefully Yoshida can give another spirited effort like last time. That was pretty entertaining but unfortunately was unable to hold an advanced position on Silva.

As much as I like Kazushi Sakuraba I want to see him retire instead. Or fight Rickson.

I think Antonio Rogerio Nogueira - Quinton "Rampage" Jackson would be a great match. Little Nog has really improved his standup skills, and it would be a great BJJ vs wrestling battle again.

Dan Henderson vs Mauricio “Shogun” Rua
Possible interesting matchup, Dan won against Shogun's brother in Pride 17.
Belfort needs can to get his phenom ways back.

Looking forward to seeing who will be added to the tourney after the other tournament.

4 - Man Tournament at Bushido 6 to determine who gets into Pride MW GP
Amar Suloev (Russia) vs. Paulo Filho (Brazil) *
Dean Lister (USA) vs. Akira Shoji (Japan) *

I'm seeing Dean Lister win, and Amar Suloev, then Suloev takes it in the final match. Go Suloev.

Not that I know a whole lot on the subject, but it surprises me that Rickson hasn't fought Sakuraba yet. Anybody know why not? I mean, I heard about the whole thing where he won't fight unless there's some large sum of money (is that right?), but it seems that at least someone, somewhere might have an interest in financing that.
