I don't use it but I've played around with it in the past.

I've got a student using it now and she seems to be doing quite well with it. Once she gets the "meathook" you're in trouble.

We've also got a newly promoted purple belt who terrorizes everyone with the twister and has I think finished all the brown belts at my club with it at one point or another while he was a blue belt.

It is hard to use, but a good way to break their posture. I think that if you aren't flexible enough, they can technically reach up and give you some pain by grabbing your ankle, but probably not enough to submit you. It also requires a lot of leg squeezing endurance.

Here's a video of my student Brian Kim at the Empire Submission Challenge this past weekend. He locks up the "meat hook" and transitions right into a triangle.

Chuck paints his toenails? It must increase the power of the rubber guard!

As a tribute to Eddie Bravo's naming practices, I have named my new whacky guard-opening technique for no-gi thus:

The Scorpion Ankle Lock of Minor Discomfort!

I'll get around to releasing photos of this somewhat ill-advised technique requiring weird flexibility when I get some time on my hands.
