    The guard with legs hooked

When I was rolling yesterday my opponent kept opening her guard and hooking her legs around mine. I really didn't have a clue what to do in that situation and I found it very difficult to untangle my legs without getting swept. Any suggestions as to a good response?
    Thanks

    My new standard response:

    Why not ask your instructor?

First off, what was she wearing?
Second, was she good looking ?
Third, if the answer to the the second was "yes", why would you NOT want those succulent thighs wrapped around you ??

Why not ask her to teach you the sweep she is doing to you and by seeing how it works you should be able to figure out the block.Or after she teaches you that sweep ask how to aviod being swept from that picticular set up

First, to prevent it: spread your knees wider and closer to their ass, and bring your heels to your ass. This should stop them from getting the grapevines in.

If they are already there: Get your head up, back as striaght as possible, and raise one of your knees. This should release that side, and you can work from there. Also, their knees must me low when they have the grapevines, so you are safe from triangles and armlocks, so take advantage of that and try to pass by pushing down on one knee, and scooping the other up on your shoulder.

Then if she is cute, ask her out on a date.
And that's when I figured out that tears couldn't make somebody who was dead alive again. There's another thing to learn about tears, they can't make somebody who doesn't love you any more love you again. It's the same with prayers. I wonder how much of their lives people waste crying and praying to God. If you ask me, the devil makes more sense than God does. I can at least see why people would want him around. It's good to have somebody to blame for the bad stuff they do. Maybe God's there because people get scared of all the bad stuff they do. They figure that God and the Devil are always playing this game of tug-of-war game with them. And they never know which side they're gonna wind up on. I guess that tug-of-war idea explains how sometimes, even when people try to do something good, it still turns out bad.

you could always try a leg lock, depending if they are allowed at your school. or when she opens your guard, go into butterfly guard before she wraps her legs around.
