John, take a deep breath and don't read into anything. It's nothing personal. No, we don't just bash people here (at least we try not to). I asked a sincere question you did not answer directly but the answer was given. I'm satisfied on what you've done. I for one do not condone any school bashing unless a person has actually gone to a few classes with an open mind and trained at the school.

/agree. We have a few too many overzealous (or at the least rashly prejudicial) bullshidoka. There are also some key phrases that set the semantic police on full alert. Stick around. It gets even more fun.

So, what are your classes like at your school for beginners? For advanced students?

Just for your information if you are looking for a quality dojo in your area, check out Katsumi Niikura's school in Sterling Heights, MI as an alternative.

Honestly, I didn't mean any disrespect by posting this here. I was afraid that coming here would fill my head with preconceptions that may prove harmful when I look into your school.

I created another topic about Isaryudo Karate. I've never heard of it, and it seems like only your school teaches it. What's it like?

Thank you Itai; I'll probably be looking into it, depending on how far it is from me (can't drive yet, and asking my parents to all the time doesn't seem very fair).

Interesting, I've been trying to get in contact with John McNabney for a while now, he's finally returning my calls.

Seems he's teaching a 'mix martial art' (sic) and boxing now. I tried to call to see what his grappling skills were and I haven't gotten a straight answer when he called me back, which is never good.

We'll see what happens.

What is a correct title for a JKD instructor. Sifu, as far I know, is a Kung Fu instructor title. Is not Guro the title most JKD guys go by.

Guro is more or less a FMA / SE-Asian Martial arts title meaning teacher or instructor.

Just like Sifu is generic chinese teacher/instructor

Sensei is japanese.

Prof/Dr is European.
