    2005 Florida State BJJ Championships - April 9th in Orlando

    2005 Florida State Championships

    Orlando, Fl. 32819

    The Championship will be the first of a three round circuit during the 2005-year. Fighters will earn points at each event. The points will accumulate to pick a year-end champion for each weight division. Every event will award medals and the circuit champion will earn the division championship belt!

    Doors open at 0800 hours, Registration begins at that time. Fights will begin at approximately 0930 hours. Registration Fees are $65 for one division and just $10 more to compete in both GI and NO-GI. All divisions will follow standard Federation Rules.
    All competitors must be active Federation members. Membership is $20 for the year. Please bring photo I.D. to register for the first time.
    Divisions:

    GI/Adult- white, blue, purple, brown/black
    Feather - Up to 159 lbs.
    Light- 160-175 lbs.
    Middle- 176-195 lbs.
    Heavy- 195-215 lbs.
    Super Hvy. - 216 lbs. And Up.
    GI/Master (36 years old and older)
    Open belts
    Light- Up to 179 lbs.
    Heavy- 180 and over
    GI/Female
    Open (All weight and belts)
    NO-GI/Adult- Novice, Intermediate, Advanced
    Feather- Up to 159 lbs.
    Light- 160-175 lbs.
    Middle- 176-195 lbs.
    Heavy- 196-215 lbs.
    Super Hvy. - 216 lbs. And Up
    NO-GI/Master (36 years and older)
    Open skill level
    Light- Up to 179 lbs.
    Heavy- 180 and over
    NO-GI/ Female
    Open (All weights and skill levels)
    JUNIOR- Up to 13 years old (GI only)
    Rooster- Up to 49 lbs
    Super Feather- 50-61
    Feather- 62-73
    Light- 74-85
    Welter- 86-97
    Middle- 98-109
    Lt. Heavy- 110-121
    Heavy- 122-133
    Super Hvy. - 134- over
    TEEN- 14 to 17 years old (GI only)
    Feather- up to 135
    Light- 136-155
    Middle- 156-175
    Lt. Hvy. - 176-195
    Heavy- over 195 lbs.
    Times:

    Junior- 4 minutes
    Teen, Female, White, Beginner, Masters- 5 minutes
    Blue, Intermediate- 6 minutes
    Purple, Brown, Black, Advanced- 7 minutes

    Points System:

    Points will be awarded in each tournament. Cumulative Points count toward Grand Championship. Points will also count toward Team Championship.

    1st Place- 10 points, 2nd Place- 7 points, 3rd Place- 4 points, 4th Place- 2 points, 5th Place- 1 point

    Juniors, Female, and Masters divisions will start first (GI), followed by the rest of the GI divisions. Following this, NO-GI Divisions will begin.

    Please read the rules at www.FJJF.com prior to the event.

    The Federation reserves the right to make rules and divisions changes.

    The other circuit events will be conducted as follows:
    America's Cup- Summer 2005
    Disney Martial Arts Tournament- October 2005

    Aesopian...question. If you are over 36 (not that I am) can you still elect to compete with the "younger" guys?

    Yup, I know plenty of guys who do that. Last FFBJ tournament there were guys who did that, and even competed in both the normal and the Masters divisions.
