    Joe Rogan on today

    Just a quickie:

Joe Rogan was on the Today show this morning, and he was sporting some UFC swag.

Do hardcore UFC fans have a beef with Joe Rogan? There seems to be this kind of seething hostility.

I know he's involved with martial arts in some way, but I don't know the whole story. I was just pointing it out the sighting for people...

No, no. I didn't mean you. I mentioned it because when the subject of Rogan and MMA comes up, someone usually has beef with him. Like he's the one guy from your project who made it out and went to business school and everyone resents him. That's what I meant, not you.

Personally, I like the guy. He seems funny and easy-going. If MMA is going to get more mainstream, they'll need guys like him who are likeable and already have a lot of name and face recognition.

Ive seen Joe Rogan on UFC a few times.Usually he comes up to the winner with a mic and asks them questions.
He seems to be a chill guy,why would people dislike him? FEAR FACTOR MAN!

It's an interesting phenomenon. It happens when people from a scene or culture that was traditionally "underground" becomes more widely recognized and accepted.

Punk in the 70s had the Clash and people got pissed when they started making pop songs and getting on the Top 40. Felt they had sold out or abandoned their roots or gone mainstream.

I imagine that some bjj folk or MMAers feel that way about Rogan. UFC, etc. used to be the province of an elect few of t3h h4rdc0r3 and with Mr. Fear Factor making it more popular, they feel it loses some of its cache.

Joe Rogan has a black belt in TKD, and is an avid muay thai practioner. He currently trains BJJ with Eddie Bravo.

He was on the today show because some woman drove her car into a lake, and remembered from watching Fear Factor that she had to roll down her windows and get out of the car that way. So the Today show had Joe on to comment on the issue.

    He's also a hilarious comedian.

i think joe rogan seem like a pretty decent guy. even though his version of the man show sucked.
during ufc 51, he said somthing like TKD is completely useless, and if you take it, you deserve to be hit by a train. (<-not exactly word for word)
i could see that causing him to lose a couple of fans.

The vast majority of TKD is worthless, and if he does in fact have a TKD blackbelt, he's in a position to comment on TKD and its effectiveness. Anyone who stops being his 'fan' because of that comment is too immature for their opinion to matter.
