    Armbar from the mount

I've been working on the straight armbar from the mount a lot lately, and I'm having great success with it in sparring (it's easily my strongest sub from the mount). The problem is that my opponents often grab their own sleeves or wrists when I'm sitting on my ass trying to extend their arm. I can usually break that grip by pulling their wrists and grabbing their hand soulbrother ("solid!")style. However, this rarely works against larger guys, especially when I'm fatigued.

Does anyone have any tips or little tricks to loosen their grip?
I pointed at him [the panhandler], bringing my rear hand up in a subtle approximation of the double Wu Sau guard that is the default hand position in Wing Chun Kung Fu.

    "Step away," I hissed.

Use one of your legs and shove the crook of his elbow with your foot. That'll soon break his grip!

Now I know what to watch out for. Couldn't make it to training yesterday, caught a sniffle.

    Supercrap: Thanks.

MEGALEF: You won't see it coming :qright7:

Too bad you weren't there yesterday. The club is preparing forthe competition in Copenhagen. Yesterday was probably the most brutal workout of my life (which, of course, isn't saying much).

Minor detail: Which foot do you propose using? The one closer to or further away from his head?

EDIT: after considering the issue (and rolling around on my bed a bit) I'm thinking one should use the foor further away from the opponent's head, in order to not create a hole from which he can withdraw his arm..

Use the heel of the leg that is across the chest.
The leg that is containing the head should probably keep doing it's original job.

Sigh. Yup, white belt. Been doing it three times a week for six months, but I only started using that move about a month ago. I've also never seen anyone actually use the "foot in crook of the arm move" at my club. The only tip I've gotten from the blue belts was pulling further up on the arm in order to get increased leverage, but as I said, it doesn't always work for me.. Take this thread for what it is. It's not like I'm asking how to do an omoplata, I just want to know if anyone uses anything that I haven't heard of.
