Dramarama! Wooo!
Anyway, IMO, the fight should have been stopped (cut) way before it went to the ground. Forrest was bleeding everywhere from it (notice the blood on the ground as he took Alex to the ground). So, if I had it call it, I would have said Alex by Doctor Stoppage, but they let the fight go longer than it should have and Alex got taken down and GnP'ed. He defiantly had a chance to pull half from the bottom, but maybe the fence had something to do with that. Anyway, I can't imagine Forrest being able to continue with that bad of a cut so I guess we'll be seeing a Lidell heavyweight back (Bobby) next episode....
Woo! I never thought I'd be a fan of reality television. Now all they need is a MMA-theme teen drama!
Edit: Additional thoughts, if Alex had been able to pull half guard (neutral position), do you think they would have stopped the fight due to the cut? If they did, would it be a draw or would Alex have gotten the W? Didn't happen, but it's fun to guesstulate.Last edited by En; 3/14/2005 11:20pm at .

Yeah, it seemed like even though he was sitting up at first, he was just confused on what to do from the ground and let Forrest capitalize.
Still, he was kicking ass standing up. I was thinking "Holy ****, he's going to knock him out!"
You know, there's going to be a flood of BJJ nutriders after this series. It seems that NOBODY has good takedown defense and everyone who's gotten taken down has lost. -

TUF 9 Thoughts
Why does Sam need to be such a packrat and horde all this stuff? That wasn't even his to TAKE in the first place.
Too much politicking and drama there.
I didn't seem to really get a feel for the styles of either of the fighters, I wish they had spent more time breaking their strengths and weaknesses down. We just know Alex was tap happy, that's about it. 10-0 does mean something though.....
Exciting fight, good action both ways. Ending was a bit weak, would have liked to see Alex try to escape some more before tapping at least, but I've been on the receiving end of some good GnP and one isn't thinking too clearly at that moment.
Comments from Forrest after the fight were pretty amusing. Hope the cut above AND under the eye don't take him out of the comp.
And most importantly, who took the damned supplements?!?Surfing Facebook at work? Spread the good word by adding us on Facebook today! https://www.facebook.com/Bullshido -

Yeah, I was wondering if Forrest was being a little too relaxed about his up-coming fight. He and Alex can both strike, that was pretty obvious. I hope that cut doesn't screw up his chances for the final match.
I think the result helped show something I've been posting on these TUF threads: The coaches (Chuck and Randy) can only do so much in the short time they have with these guys. Alex was on both teams for about the same amount of time, so he should have gotten the most benefit.
Which reminds me, what happened to Marc Laimon? If they taped this last fall, it must have been right around the time he had his Grappler's Quest match against that Gracie he beat on points. Too bad he couldn't stick around and help the guy's like Alex who need some work on their ground game.
Which bring up a quick question for Strong Machine and anyone else that trains fighters - Which is easier to make quick improvements to, striking or grappling? My gut feeling is that the grapplers (Diego, Josh K, Kenny Flo) are getting more from the striking coaches than the strikers are getting from the grappling coaches.
Lastly, what is the big rule change that is coming up next week? I think they are just going to have the two guys left on each team in the same weight class fight each other. No more competitions to introduce randomness, just everyone pairing off with the guy on your same team. Therefore, Forrest vs Sam, Stephan vs. Mike, Diego vs. Josh and Chris vs Kenny. What do you guys think?"I had once talked to Billy Conn, the boxer, about professionals versus amateurs - specifically street fighters. One had always heard rumors of champions being taken out by back-alley fighters. Conn was scornful. "Aw, it's like hitting a girl," he said. "They're nothing."

Damn, that would be crazy. There are 3 more episodes, so 1 fight for the next two and then the finals. But having to fight your own teamate? Harsh. Maybe they'll just flip a coin and whoever wins gets to chose the fight. Diego vs Josh and forrest vs Sam? ... ... ... imba? Therefore, Forrest vs Sam, Stephan vs. Mike, Diego vs. Josh and Chris vs Kenny. -

I think that Alex got worried after taking a few hard shots when he was mounted which is why he tapped.
I also think he shouldn't of even gone to the ground, since when he was driven to the fence he could of easily kept it standing, or stood back up which I think Randy was trying to tell him to do.
Also to work your feet up and over the back of forest would of been possible, and even then able to avoid mount.
I think it was a good fight however. Not sure about the rules, but it looked like Chris was training with Kenny so maybe it is going to be Diego and Koschek vrs. Leben and Florian.I'll make one when I can find one I like.
