Just curious, did you have a specific reason for that?

I use to have spontaneous nosebleeds. Got annoying to wake up once every 3 weeks to a red pillow and a slightly light head.

Used to get them all the time, same kind of issue, blood stained pillows, slight tap to the nose and drip drip drip. Donated blood and then didn't get a bleed for 3-4 weeks, after 2 months started pretty regular again.
Now I donate plasma which I can do every 2 weeks and haven't had the problem since. It's a little less drastic than cauterising and I get free pizza!

I broke my nose for the 4th time last night. It didnt hurt to much but it did bleed like hell. To stop the bleeding I layed down and applied continues pressure to both sides of the nose for 10 minutes by the clock. This will stop most nosebleeds and is what we reommend to patients. The key is dont take the pressure off and keep checking your nose every few minutes. Keep the pressure continuous for the full 10 minutes.. It also helps if you can apply with ice if its available..

Generally they can lay on their back. If there is a concern about choking on the blood you could have them lay on their side.

I know that the standard first aid thing for a nose bleed is to pinch the nose shut, lean forward, and wait for it to stop. This is probably a good bet, although it might be a pain to have to stop training every time and hold your nose.

I've heard that tilting your head backwards to make it stop dripping can cause infections or something like that.
Is there any truth in that?

I don't know about infections, but it sure is gross to have all that blood running down your throat!
