All things aside, the martial art school isn't even profitable.

Just by looking at the website "http://www.jsw.com" her school it seems to be a wonderfull blend of bullshido and Mcdojo.
When I looked under the intructors link I found a 3rd Degree certified intructor who looks not older than 14.

I may be able to help you if you could tell me which city or town she lived in, when she was in Vermont, and how long ago this was. I.E. when did she presumably get a divorce, change names, and leave the Green Mountain State. (Is she, or was she married?)

she was under her former name for the whole time in vermont. I suspect she was in or near burlington. She had talked on occasion about Ben & Jerries original store being near the school, and that B&J's was in an old gas station. She didn't get divorced until around 1988-1989ish, in california. She was in Vermont til 1985 or before because her school in California opened in Summer 1985.

Hmm, maybe to firm up your chronology you could find out in which town she lived in, in California, go to the appropriate courthouse and pull her divorce file which will identify where and when she was married and what property she possessed at the time of her divorce.
I may be able to do some looking around, so she ran a TKD shool in Vermont, close to B & J's original store somewhere near Burlington up until 1985? If that's accurate I could do some looking around.

here is the info on the original shops location taken from ben and jerries website
With a $12,000 investment ($4,000 of it borrowed), Ben and Jerry open their Ben & Jerry’s Homemade ice cream scoop shop in a renovated gas station at the corner of St. Paul and College Streets in downtown Burlington, Vermont, on May 5.
Ben and Jerry hold their first free summer movie festival, projecting movies on the outside wall of the old gas station in Burlington.
