    Hell yeah! Hell no!

    Knee on tummy

Do you prefer to use knee on stomach as a position or transitional point?

Edit: Should say upper stomach and lower sternum for 'b'.

Before I run off to BJJ, I would like to add that you can go to knee-on-belly to flatten someone out when they try to sit up and turn to you when under side control.

Be that as it may, it more typically used in one of the two manners I described. No?

Leg toward their head or their feet? Same as normal right?

Shuma, then you consider it more of a position to hold rather than a transitional point?

Usually I bide my time on side control and try to either get their near arm pushing on my chest or get the thumb of my head-controlling hand into their collar. I pop up briefly to knee-on-chest and either bring the other foot in to the side of their head to take the arm, or get to the knee-on-chest and pull up on the collar, insert my other hand fingers-in on the other side of the neck and start spinning for the baseball choke.

Now, larger guys can usually pin me with their weight (180-200lbs) or guys with really good bases can keep the position there to force something. It's uncomfortable but I haven't been submitted from there in recent memory.

So... for lighter, less skilled guys I'd definitely say knee-on-chest is definitely a transition, but if you have a good enough base you can definitely hold it to wear the other person down.

    Video of that?

The way we're taught to do it has the knee on the lower ribcage with enough weight on the knee to cause pain and hold the guy down.

I have withheld my vote because I don't use this position enough to feel I have a good idea what I even want to pick.

Then I looked at who had voted.
    Apostol voted.

    What the ****.

I just bounce around a lot hoping to break something or get the floating rib to puncture the spleen. No real position preference.

But I seriously hope that the knee ride doesn't develop into some sort of cult absolutist following the way the armbar with feet never crossed has. Fast forward into the future 25 years and people will be saying, if you have your knee across his ribs exactly like this you can kill him by applying exactly 17 lbs of pressure at a 38degree angle...
