In Xing Yi's defense, I read an article about a guy who trains people in it for kickboxing matches. I know they compete in legit tournaments, but I don't know how they do.

By the way Xango, you're not comparing Kyokushin to Xing-i are you ?

He did call Mas Oyama "a goofy old man".

Also: The prescence of Mas Oyama does not in any way validate the thousands of pudgy Asians in suspenders throwing dorky reverse punches. Sorry.

Many systems share "same technqiues", there are only so many ways to punch, kick and elbow someone, its the training that makes one system "unique" compared to another.

These high-quality XingYi anti-grappling techniques must explain why I study Judo, and why lama_xy studies BJJ! Either that or we're just serious about learning to fight....
On the other hand...well, Aesopian, I'll put it this way. If you and I were to strap on boxing gloves, and fight with fists only, I would destroy you. No comparison. The difference is, I freely admit, that a groundfighter doesn't need special rules to keep the fight in his preferred range.
Xingyi fists should be respected. The Xingyi anti-grapple is a myth. Nothing else need be added to this.
We need a special smiley to illustrate the nutriding concept.
i think aeso with boxing gloves on would be a bad move for you, youd try some crazy chain punches get slap once and be down for the count. thered be no destroying on your part
see im sick of this myth by tma's being perpetuated where some how you guys think that us bjj'ers only know bjj and weve never thrown a punch in are life. or that we only learn enuff to punch once and goto the ground. cause see here if i strapped the gloves on with you, you and your xing quan uiy would get destroyed and after that we could grapple and youd really get a raping.

Eduardo "Why'd you stop."
Me "I was kicked in the head by the guys sparring next to me."
Eduardo "Ino what happened but i didnt say you could stop."
Me "Um.. I guess I keep going."
Eduardo "You dont stop until i say stop, you dont get tired until i say your tired, keep going."

My cousin gave me some tapes of him doing tkd. I learned from those tapes. When I beat up an Akido instructor, and made him take rest breaks, I used TKD. I learned Bjj from watching ufc and pride and then I copied them and wrestled my cousin for practice. I choked him out and he tapped.
