In related news, I was able to do a full pushup for the first time in months yesterday, March 1. Great birthday present.

I used a sling when I did the same thing. YOu have to keep the whole arm imobilized for a while. Do EVERYTHING the physical therapist tells you to do. It will help. It takes a long time to feel like you are back to normal though. I couldn't sleep on my side for about 4-5 months. It would wake me right up with the pain.

One time while mountain biking I went over the bars and landed directly on top of my shoulder. I felt it dislocate. I stood up and quickly rotated my arm up and to the back and it popped back into place. I didn't go to a doctor and it was sore for a few days. It took about 8 weeks before I could comfortablly lift my arm over my head again and then another 2 to 4 before beeing back to normal.
Not syaing you shouldn't go to a doctor. Just a related experience. Good luck and rest.
