Former high school wrestling coach charged with molesting student

SOMERVILLE, Mass. - A former high school wrestling coach and judo school instructor was released on $1,500 bail on Wednesday after pleading innocent to charges of sexually assaulting one of his students.

Everett Bower, 32, of Medford was arraigned at Somerville District Court on charges of indecent sexual assault and battery on a child and dissemination of harmful matter to a minor after surrendering to police.

Bower allegedly assaulted the male student, now 17, and showed him pornographic material at Bower's Medford home when he was 14, prosecutors said.

Bower was a wrestling coach at Medford High School and the alleged victim was a student at the time.

Bower also coached at Malden Catholic High School and Savio Preparatory High School in East Boston, according to broadcast reports. He is not currently employed as a coach.

The student recently reported the alleged abuse to the Middlesex district attorney's office and investigators searched Bower's home on Saturday.

Bower is scheduled to return to court April 4. He has also been ordered to have no contact with the alleged victim and no contact with anyone under the age of 18.

Prosecutor Michelle Margolis said Everett Bower, 32, asked his wrestlers to perform sex acts as the culmination of their four-step indoctrination into his ``family.''

FORMER COACH PLEADS GUILTY TO RAPING STUDENTS

BOSTON, Dec. 6, 2006

A one-time wresting coach at an East Boston Catholic school pled guilty today to raping two former students and abusing several others, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

EVERETT BOWER, 34 (D.O.B. 10/7/72), of Medford pled guilty to raping the two victims, then 15, five times between 2003 and 2004. Bower also admitted to assault and hazing charges for beating those boys and three others, then 15 and 16, with textbooks and other implements during the same time period. Jury selection was expected to start today in Bower's trial on those charges.

Yep, I do that every once in a while so I feel like I am contributing more than just clean up.

Also, I have found a few where the guy was actually found innocent or had charges dismissed. One, IIRC, the complainant lied.

So, I try to update every now and again because, I'd hate to have my name attached to something I didn't do. The internet is a monster now and causes people to lose jobs on a regular basis now.
