My position exactly. Still, it will be nice to see a skilled guy or three trying to chain punch their way through the UFC or Pride.

I just read his bio and it says he started studying MA in 1976 at the age of 14, so he's 42/43. Let's hope he has Coture-like anti-aging genes.

I doubt he'll be doing too much chain punching.

Should be interesting to see WC techs thrown in with the rest of the MMA techs.

"or how about Nog or Silva?"

Maybe if you wanted him dead.

Fair play to him though if he's prepared to get in there.

As I stated in my post, I doubt he will be competing, as he is over 40: sounds mora like a business chioce to me, so he will have his school of MMA and his group of fighters in Pride etc.

The only thing that in some way disturbs here is that he's not going to teach/promote anymore WT for mainly commercial purposes: in my previous school the organisation was made of JJ people that at a certain point decided to compete and train MMA, but they still kept JJ as their "root art", keeping classes, tradition etc. and even better teching a more fighting oriented JJ in their TMA classes.

[btw the oil/males/rolling thing is the reason I will stick to my WT for the moment...]

I doubt you'd notice much that was clearly and distincively Wing Chun.
Most of WC's high-percentage techniques are already used in MMA (uppercuts, elbows, a few simple armlocks, leg-sweeps and low kicks) and are trained in lots of other arts too.

The only WC/VT'ish things I envision being done in an MMA ring that would make people say 'hey that was different' would be lower-leg or midsection kicks delivered with the heel, and the foot turned outwards. I think they're fairly distinctive to WC/VT (or at least southern chinese TMA).

Actually, the fact they wing chun trains to punch from very short distances and most of their punches are "arm punches", it will acuyally fit well into MMA ( striking from grappling range).
