Disarming a katana by grabbing the blade and swinging the attacker around with it..... Isn't that a bit like disarming a gun by shooting yourself in the face?

Are there any clips of this style where it isn't totally sucking? Or is that its speciality.

That sort of rubbish is exactly why gendai or modern budo gets such a bad reputation.

Muto no jutsu just wouldn't happen like that, ever. These people don't realise that a blade of that size, in the hands of someone who actually knows how to use it, will travel through an arm or a good portion of a body in about a tenth of a second.

    I'll say that again..

IN A TENTH OF A SECOND.

Facing off against someone with the sword already drawn should *most likely* be the last thing you'd ever do.

Now, techniques do exist within legitimate bujutsu but quite frankly what was shown in that clip was diabolically shite, and not worth the time effort and obvious cash which has been invested. If those individuals and their instructors had any concept of how a Japanese sword can be fenced, they'd know all too well that those piss-poor applications just don't work.

I'm no budoka, but I know an obviously made up katana form when I see it.

Others im told have been scouted for the US Judo Olympic team and Tae kwon do team. Its still a goal of some children i've even trained with.
Scouted for the US Judo Olympic Team? You have to QUALIFY to even attempt to do that as in WINNING at large regional and national level tournaments.

If any of the kids you train with have Olympic aspirations in Judo, they need to go to a real judo dojo, where they are now isn't going to cut it. This isn't to say that no one knows how to teach Judo, just that they will need to focus solely on Judo plus fitness training to even have a chance.

As well as defining what you mean by real battle, could you identify which ryuha of JJJ Jeff knows? Cheers

Yeah, no really. The US Judo Olympic Committee totally saw these badass youtube clips and thought 'these moves are so deadly and this style so good that we are going to bypass all established protocols and procedures and recruit them directly untested'.

Plus, as far as I know there is not centralized national judo training facility for juniors (kids) under say, 18 years old.

There are regional training centers set up by USA Judo, but as AFIK those are for adults.

This is probably true of taekwondo as well.
