In my personnel opinion the best JKD schools are at least equal to anything that currently exists within the MMA World.
For MMA, a style that is supposedly evolving (and I know it is, i'll give it that), all the fighters still look fat. More so they all look the same.

The straight blast affliate gym in Berkeley doesn't even have JKD on their sign anymore, it's all about MMA and BJJ. No offense, but it always seemed like some of these JKD guys were just opportunists. There style/system/philosophy/psychobabble was supposed to be the greatest thing since sliced bread, and when something came along, it was always "we've got that-" as they scuried to adopt that technique. If you have a porsche or a ferrari, it's always a porsche ro ferrari, it doesn't need to be constantly upgraded.
That being said, there are some really good/great practitioners, they just like to prattle a little too much.

Matt THonton has said that he doesn't really talk about JKD anymore.

JKD tends to produce "martial artists", whereas MMA regularly produces fighters.

Ooh it's a midwest joke. Anyone who moves slow, I call em fat, or a fattie. For example, someone driving really slow, or MMA fighters since they always keep the same cadence (the only exception i see occurs during some kind of wrap up). They're big time fatties.

And I still think they all look the same. Same Guile pose, same 1,2 punch/kick combos, then they go to the ground, then they try to beatdown, then some more manuevering, then they hug, then they. get my drift? Where's the fun in letting a match last a little longer. If I knock someone down, I let them get up and we'd play some more.

I can't believe I said that. MMA would pwn me.

The only new information to come from the resurrection of this thread is that Bear and knutorious ought to be banned.
