Yep, yep it is, but what separates JKD from MMA are the other sections that don't talk about the flaws of other MA or the various, various attacks. Those types of issues you can find in MT, BJJ, judo etc. Check out 'Jeet Kune Do:commentaries on the martial way" for an extended version of Tao of JKD as well as the other red books. No need to buy them all unless you think they're worth it.

A lot of places that teach JKD are really out dated in my opinion. I attended a seminar last year with Rick Young, he said we were going to do some JKD and we covered chi sau or push hands or whatever it's called.
I found it pointless tbh, especially after doing an hour of BJJ previously. It certainly didn't help my MMA game in the slightest! That was my first impression of JKD and unfortunately, first impressions often stick. It's not something i'd ever contemplate going back too, MMA has everything i want and need in a martial art.
As someone said previously, MMA is probably how Mr Lee would see JKD eveloving were he still around, yet a lot of schools i've come across seem to neglect this. -

Hmm the problem with ALOT of JKD schools is that they often tend to emulate Bruce Lee too much (as if: 'if i combine lots of syles i'll look like bruce lee when i fight' lol).
On the same not the problem with alot of MMa schools is that they tend to think MMA is just Thai Boxing, Bjj & a little wrestling thrown in. Its supposed to be progressive and mean 'Mixed Martial Arts'.(not just 2 styles- how will the art evolve if all the experimentation is gone?)
In my personnel opinion the best JKD schools are at least equal to anything that currently exists within the MMA World.
