BJJ guys never have a problem with throwing. It's the landings that are suprising. Being on the end of a dozen or so leg-takedowns every other week doesn't add up to one ten-minute session with a guy with a strong tai-otoshi.

You can't tap halfway through an uchimata.

Funny, because I saw a Kodokan black belt get taken down with a single leg. :happy4:

I'd like to point out how my last comment was to point out how pointless a judo vs BJJ debate is, and this post is to again point out how it is doubly useless in this thread, since it has nothing to do with whether or not BJJ is just a fad.

Furthermore, BJJ is judo, and therefore, judo is self-defeating.

Not to give merit to anyones argument, but I was looking to take Kodokan Judo because I can't afford to take BJJ right now. Matt Serra's place is like 140 a month for 1 or 2 classes a week. And I voted that it was a fad because of the fact you have people with the TapOut Clothing etc. and the all these school suddenly adding Grappling/Wrestling to their curriculum with no real Wrestling/Grappling background. I don't think that grappling is a fad I just think that BJJ owning grappling is a fad and that at least in NY we'll start seeing more Sambo and Judo schools pop up.Also when I told my friend that I wanted to do Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, his response was that all those kick and flips looked really cool. It took me a while to realize he thought I meant Capoeria

I heard that Rorion invented the High tops and COnverse stole it from him.
