Assholes exist independently from styles which are largely an illusion anyway.
Don't hate on BJJ because of the behavior of some of it's more strident nuttnuzzlers.
BJJ's cojones are large, pungent and intoxicating.
Even accomplished grapplers should have a good working knowledge of this system, for it is very efficatious.
The truth is, BJJ is a traditional asian martial art that has been developed beyond it's previous limitations and that is a good thing.
Art, science, industry and the like evolve, and so should martial art.
Martial arts in general have become more about feeling holy and posturing and blind adherance to ancient rules than learning to actually survive mortal combat.
If someone wants to act like a superior jackass on the interweb it's no skin off my nose.
This is after all just a place for people to let off steam before they go all Columbine as a result of their low self-esteem anyways. -

There's only one way to fight on the ground. While that does have it's limitations, it's not a fad.

Is it a fad? No, I don't really think so. It's an effective art that has proven itself. It's not going to merely die out, because of its applicable nature. Who can't benefit from knowing and being capable of employing its various techniques?
It certainly has a strong following that doesn't hesitate to tout its efficiency, but it seems to have earned that position.
As an afterthought, it has a bit of a learning curve. It's going to take some dedication to get better. Fads tend to be quick and easy.Last edited by Aeon Infinitus; 2/14/2005 3:09am at .
