From what I've read, apparently, Bruce Lee taught Wing Chun before the Wong Jack Man fight. Yet he had never completed the Wing Chun course?

As I understand the Bruce Lee story, he was a very accomplished ballroom dancer. Maybe he filled in the gaps with this?

    heh.
Yeah, but he never claimed to be a master did he?
By that stage he'd already modified it (not sure how heavily) based on other styles be'd been exposed to.

Isn't this the major argument that Wing Chun lovers use - Bruce Lee only discarded it for JKD because he hadn't mastered it and didn't fully understand it.

It's simple facts and ethics that you should NOT be running an institute that teaches a style if you haven't mastered it. Would they let a purple belt in BJJ open his own dojo?

Yes, but Bruce Lee wasn't teaching pure WC.
And that's when I figured out that tears couldn't make somebody who was dead alive again. There's another thing to learn about tears, they can't make somebody who doesn't love you any more love you again. It's the same with prayers. I wonder how much of their lives people waste crying and praying to God. If you ask me, the devil makes more sense than God does. I can at least see why people would want him around. It's good to have somebody to blame for the bad stuff they do. Maybe God's there because people get scared of all the bad stuff they do. They figure that God and the Devil are always playing this game of tug-of-war game with them. And they never know which side they're gonna wind up on. I guess that tug-of-war idea explains how sometimes, even when people try to do something good, it still turns out bad.

Its too bad he died 30 years ago, otherwise we could start a website campaign demanding he explain.

A novice CAN learn from some bjj purple belts as fast as he/she could from a black belt. Many BJJ purple belts have successful schools. Not all black belts are good teachers, and some purples are excellent at coaching a person to their level.

Don't believe everything you see in movies, Bruce Lee never abandoned Wing Chun. He found himself without a teacher possessing skill superior to his and was forced to fill in the blanks with experimentation and conditioning.

The blanks he was filling were in his training and understanding, his writings reflect this.

To be honest, he probably had a better understanding of Wing Chun in general and fighting in particular than most of the so called Wing Chun masters and grand masters running around today.
